As 2024 comes to a close, I’ve been searching for moments of stillness amidst the chaos: taking long walks, embracing slowness in a hectic season, flipping through photos of the year, and finding gratitude for the highs, learning to embrace the lows, and witnessing grace all around. It has felt like a fiery, transformative year—appropriate for the Chinese Year of the Dragon.
Launching Quinta Esencia has been a labor of love, filled with challenges and triumphs, as any entrepreneurial journey is. In 2022 when the brand was still just an idea, I wrote down the values I wanted this brand to embody: groundedness, connection, roots, and community. Those principles have guided me every step of the way, shaping the products and the heart of Quinta Esencia itself.
Community shaped our success this year. The human connections I have built over the past 54 years have come forth to support, create, ideate, and motivate. I’ve also met so many new people along the way that have helped shape our creative vision, bring forth what was in my head and heart and make it a reality, joined forces in opening up their retail spaces to share our vision, and partnered with our mission of giving back. For every twenty products we sell we donate one to a parent caring for a child who is sick or who has special needs: a reminder that for us mothers who have walked that path, it has often been the nurturing of others that has carried us forth.
This past September, on the weekend of my own daughter’s twentieth anniversary of her bone marrow transplant, we were able to donate 18 products to the Duke Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.
Then, in October, in collaboration with Beth Buccini, entrepreneur and mama extraordinaire, Founder of Kirna Zabete boutiques, we donated oils to mothers with children affected with DDX3. Beth hosted the DDX3 conference in Wilmington, Delaware, and all the attendees left with a body oil.
Those who know me know that at my core, I love to give. I firmly believe that it is in giving that we receive, something I learned from my great grandmother, who many of you know graces the inside cover of our product boxes. As we approach the Holiday season, I am grateful to all who have bought and reviewed our products, attended our pop-ups, and shown up in so many ways to get to know this brand.
My hope is that we continue to build a community of women supporting women and that all of us use self-care to ground ourselves so that we can continue to be there for one another.
